Wolff Wednesday: I Need Help-- Again!!!!!!

So, the house is slowly getting taken care of--- just waiting on the insurance estimate/check now. But in the meantime, I need a new name. Again. I know, I know, I already have two names but with my new Young Adult sale (and can I just say yippee!!!!!!!!!! for the millionth time) I need a third name, as I don't think the YA and erotica genres go that well together-- at least not for the teenagers (imagine that ;)

Part of me wants to use my maiden name and just be done with it, but then another part thinks that another nom de plume would be kind of fun. My agent suggested Tabitha as a first name and I like that (sticking with Tracy and Tessa with the T's) but at the same time I'm open to non-T names too.

So, any suggestions for first and last names? I'd like to stay with the beginning part of the alphabet for my last name-- as Wolff, I'm buried on the last shelf of the last bookcase at B and N and Borders, which is not optimum place ment, as I'm sure you can imagine. Thanks in advance.

  1. I tell you what I will do... when I get home tonight I will ask my 16 yr if she could chose a name (she loves to read)... for an author what would it be. And I will come back to let you know. But I do agree with you about the abc's... they suck! My last name is Smith, lol!!! So, being in the front is nice... because you know you start strong and end weak because other things catch your attention. So, I will ask your target audience.

  2. If I was going to do a YA novel and I needed a name I would Pick Cameron Motley or Cameron Manes. I like the M b/c is smack in the middle. My maiden name was Stasey and my last now Waldron and I am ALWAYS at the bottom of a list ;-(...

  3. I would definitely go for a last name higher up in the alphabet! I like the name Tabitha. And I'm being absolutely no help so....I'll just say congrats again! :)

  4. Hey Tracy...how about Trina Aaron. That's pretty close up there on the alphabet.

  5. Hmm... first off, congrats, Tracy! As for name suggestions, I do like Tabitha, too, so for names that go with Tabitha... Allen, Armstrong, Blayne, Cramer, Clyde, Brooks, Ash...

Do you want any sort of "ethnicity"?

  6. Hmmm, I think I would go for something romantic and mysterious like Tabitha Castle :)

  7. Thanks for all your help, ladies. I still can't make up my mind, but I will by Monday. I've got to post the deal in Publisher's Lunch. Sigh. What to do, what to do.

  9. I ended up going with Tracy Deebs. The deal reads like this: Tracy Deebs's Rip Tide, a dark mermaid/surfer tale that explores a teen-age girl's struggle between her desires and her destiny as she faces down a powerful evil, to Stacy Cantor of Walker Books by Emily Sylvan Kim of Prospect Agency.
