Uggh! I have been suffering from the worst case of bronchitis I have ever had and it has been driving me nuts! Zapping me of energy when I most need it, making it impossible to concentrate-- something about the whole lack of oxygen thing-- and just wearing me out in general.
And while I've still got a road to recovery, I'm finally feeling like a human being again, which is very, very nice. And can I just say how much I hate preschool? I knew the sicknesses were coming once kidlet #3 started preschool, and sure enough, he's brought home three different bugs in 5 weeks. But this one that got me was, by far, the worst!
Anyway, to celebrate the fact that I no longer feel quite so terrible (what a thing to celebrate, LOL) I thought I'd give away some fun Bath and Body Works lotion. So leave a comment here-- telling me your best cure-all for a stuffy chest and/or pounding head, and be entered to win! Thanks so much, in advance. I can use all the advice I can get as the doctor said this thing will probably take a good two to three weeks to shake ...
Even with all the modern medicines I still find that Vicks on the chest works better than anything for me. That and an air purifier to cleanse the air really helps my brother's family.

(((hugs))) Tracy! I had bronchitis for almost 2 months back in February and March and it was awful! The doctors at Urgent Care knew me very well, I was there often enough (mostly because I couldn't breath!).
ReplyDeleteTwo things really helped me, being able to rest without having to take care of kids or a hubby, no cooking, no laundry......just laying in bed and sleeping a lot. I know that is so much easier said then done but my youngest is 16 so I didn't have little ones to take care of!
The other.......the beach! Not sure why but the cool moist air down there seemed to help clear my lungs and it made me feel much better! Strange but true!
I hope you are feeling completely better soon!
I too use Vicks on the chest, plus on the throat wrapped up in an old ripped-up pillowcase.
ReplyDeleteI keep Vitamin C, echinacea, and Cold-FX on hand. I use the cheapest (Vit C) at the onset and hope for the best. If I feel worse than that, I resort to the echinacea. My big-gun resort is the Cold-FX, as it is the most expensive.
I use Extra-Strength Tylenol for headaches.
When my husband had bronchitis, he too found bedrest without kids around as helping the most.
Get well soon!
vicks vapor rub and bc sinus powder.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your illness. I had the flu last month and was out of commission for a week and a half. Lots of rest was really helpful; I basically stayed in bed for the entire time (except for the necessary visits to the bathroom and kitchen). I didn't eat much but I drank a lot of water. I also had anti-inflammatories and nasal decongestants to help me breathe easier and to be in less pain. Good luck. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy
ReplyDeleteI'm just catching up:
Yes you're a bad blogger. I missed you.
The Unguarded cover & excerpt are fab. Can't wait.
I'm so sorry you're not well. The last time I had something that bad it turned into asthma. Didn't know what it was except it felt like an elephant on my chest & hubby knew the symptoms. My then 7 year old had to teach me how to use a puffer LOL.
Feel better soon. All the good hints have been posted. Don't enter me.
((hugs))

I love vitamin c, and Emergen-C makes it so easy to use, just mix with water and drink. Hope you are over the worst of it.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon. I love the Vicks Vapor Rub, too. I also use Tylenol Flu or Cold syrup.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the advice and well wishes, everyone! I really appreciate it-- especially considering how crappy yesterday turned out to be. I definitely needed all the kindness I could get.
ReplyDeleteDrink lots of orange juice. I like to get in the shower and let the hot steam clear my head.
ReplyDeleteHope you are 100% better soon.
